Hi, Audrey!
After experiencing the
Disney Cruise to Alaska firsthand earlier this summer, I was floored by the impression it made on my family and me.You will not regret the resources spent enriching your family's time together.
As a family of six, I completely understand budgetary limitations on vacation. I think that's the reason my husband and I like to plan Disney cruises. We determine where/when we can sail and then we don't concern ourselves with the day-to-day details of how much everything costs on vacation.
Yet, when you're in various ports of call, you want to see what each location has to offer -- especially for a destination like Alaska. There's no better way to do this than by booking
Port Adventures. You may can save money by booking shore excursions yourself, or you can simply walk to and through the various towns. My thought is if you're going to the trouble and expense of traveling for such an amazing destination like Alaska -- you're going to want to make sure you really experience it. Plus, I honestly get a little nervous about boarding the ship when we venture too far away without the reassurance of booking a tour through Disney.
So, take a look at the various Alaska Port Adventures Disney offers and choose one which the entire group can do together and maybe one or two which a few others in the family can enjoy on their own. I recommend the White Pass Railroad or Liarsville Gold Panning in Skagway; whale watching in Juneau and Potlatch Park or the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan. In Victoria, Butchart Gardens or tea at The Empress are great choices. If you have more questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you.
Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
