Interested in booking a character meal for my 2 boys (6 & 5). They have narrowed it down to Ohana with Lilo and Stitch, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, or Chef Mickey. Which do you recommend?

    Hi Jennifer!

My family's favorite Character Dining Experience is Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort.  We enjoy both breakfast and dinner there.  My children, ages 5 and 10, love the atmosphere and the excitement.  I personally enjoy dinner better, because I like to hit the parks early in the morning.

Ohana's Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch is also a nice Character breakfast.  In my opinion, it's a little calmer and more relaxing than Chef Mickey's.  The food is brought to your table instead of you having to get it from a buffet line.  Most young guests especially enjoy getting their photo taken with Stitch.

Mickey's Backyard BBQ is a lot of fun, but it's my least favorite of the three.  That's mostly because it is relatively difficult to get to the BBQ at Fort Wilderness when using Disney transportation.  You have to take a bust to Fort Wilderness and then transfer to a Fort Wilderness internal bus.  The only exception is when we have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge or the Contemporary Resort, because it is very easy to get to Fort Wilderness from those two resorts via a boat that goes between the three resorts.  Fort Wilderness' boat dock is within walking distance of the BBQ.  It's also nice to visit Fort Wilderness on a day you are visiting the Magic Kingdom because you can take a boat from the Magic Kingdom directly to Fort Wilderness.

All three are a lot of fun and I really do recommend all of them.   Whatever you decide, be sure to make an Advanced Dining Reservation.  All three are very popular, especially Chef Mickey's.  Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
