We are interested in beginning initial planning for a multi-generation vacation in April 2022. 10 People ages from 3 to 65. Want to check out options for both Florida and California.

    Welcome to planDisney, John!

Disney Resorts are the perfect locations for multi-generation vacations, and many of my own family's Disney trips have been with grandparents. There is something for everyone at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, whether you’re young or young-at-heart!

Disneyland Resort in California is small and intimate. I love the ease of park-hopping across the Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, on the other hand, is expansive. It not only has four parks (Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park), Guests can also enjoy two water parks (Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park). Moreover, you’ll find ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf as well. At both Resort theme parks, you will find attractions suitable for all ages that young children and grandparents can enjoy together, such as Jungle Cruise or Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Older children may gravitate towards thrilling attractions with height restrictions such as Incredicoaster (only in Disney California Adventure Park) or Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

When it comes to lodging, you’ll find great onsite hotel options in both Resorts. There are three onsite hotels available at Disneyland Resort in California: the elegant Craftsman-style Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, luxurious Disneyland Hotel, and seaside-themed Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. Numerous Disney-approved Good Neighbor Hotels can be found nearby. In Florida, you'll find over 25 Disney Resort hotel locations, ranging from budget-conscious value Resort hotels to luxurious Deluxe Villas and hotels. Prior to arrival, I usually call the hotel to request for our rooms to be either adjoining or nearby each other. While it depends on availability, Cast Members have always managed to accommodate our requests to ensure our large party stayed close together.

Speaking of being together, let’s talk about dining! For a large party, be sure to make dining reservations in advance for table-service restaurants. While your group may split up during the day and enjoy different parts of the theme park separately, enjoying a family meal is a great way to relax, gather and talk about your day. (Please note: due to changes and enhancements related to reopening period, the current time frame to make online dining reservations at Walt Disney World Resort is 60 days in advance. Because Disneyland Resort remains temporarily closed at this time, there is no information regarding dining reservation yet.)

John, I hope this gives you a brief overview to help get you started on planning your trip in April 2022. As you continue to plan your multi-generation trip, please drop by planDisney with more questions. We are all EARS!

    Have a magical day,
    Kiki

Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
