Hi Paula! The
Fort Wilderness Resort is a great choice for those guests who enjoy the great outdoors as well as the fun in the parks. When we stay there I take walks daily just to see my deer family friends and my dogs love watching for the turkeys who walk through the sites looking for food.
If you are considering camping at Fort Wilderness it is one of the best places to try this type of accommodation out. Most campers will bring their own equipment but Disney does offer tents to guests who request them. Please contact them before your arrival to make sure they have it down that you will need to rent one of theirs. It has been done on a first come basis but I have not heard of anyone not able to get one for their stay.
There are two loops designated for tent camping and each one will have access to beautiful comfort stations. In each of these you will find private showers, toilets, and wash basins. You will also have a pay per use laundry room and also ice machines. The comfort stations are kept pristine and open 24 hours a day.
The sites will be half sand and half concrete so you will have a place to park your car and also put up your tent and screen house if needed. The sites come with electricity, water, and cable. During June it will be quite warm with afternoon showers or storms starting their summer run in Florida. Many guests bring fans and lots of water proof tarps to cover their supplies. You will be treated as any other Walt Disney World guest and have access to all the benefits as they do. If you have any more questions please let me know as we spend many months in this resort and I call it home!
