In-laws 50th anniverary is May 2014. How far in advance should I make reservations? Can I make them now & adjust the rate when deals are available. Will be 6 adults/3 kids (9, 7, 2) would it be cheaper to stay in 3 separate rooms @ mod or get a 2bed vi

    Hi, Stefanie!

What a wonderful way to celebrate a 50th anniversary, a trip for the entire family to Walt Disney World! How magical!

As soon as you know the particular dates of your stay, book your resort reservations. I always book directly through Walt Disney World, too, since the cancellation / rebooking process is so painless and flexible. If there is a special offer that becomes available, and you are able to obtain one, you may be able to cancel that first reservation with no penalty. Speak with a Cast Member when booking for more information on the cancellation policy.

Price out a 2-bedroom villa in comparison to three moderate rooms. For a gang of your size, we prefer a stay at either Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani Village or Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Both of these resorts' 2-bedroom villas include three full bathrooms, which is fantastic for those sleeping on the sleeper sofa and sleeper chair. Add the inclusion of a full kitchen and an in-room washer and dryer, and it feels just like home! (Okay...nicer than home...)

However, booking 3 rooms in a moderate resort may save you money. If price is the deciding factor, compare rates between a stay in a moderate of your choice with the same dates for a 2-bedroom at BL or AKV-Kidani. Use May 2013 rates in order to determine the difference between the two stays; the rates will be different in 2014, but the difference between the two resorts' rates will give you a good indication of the added expense of staying in the 2-bedroom. When I compared one night in each of these, comparing three rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside to a 2-bdrm stay at Kidani (standard view for each) the difference was just over $200. Of course, additional fees may apply.

Call Disney at (407) 939-7211 for more specific information, Stefanie, and have fun planning this spectacular vacation! Send more questions as you think of them, too. We love to help!
