We are in the initial planning stages of a Disney vacation next year. We are wondering what is the better time to travel? Would the weather and crowds be better in mid May or mid September?

    Hi Jason!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

Crowd-wise there isn't much difference between the two.  If you want more details in terms of predictions on specific days then II suggest visiting the independent website TouringPlans.com.  That is the website for the research team behind the tour book "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World".  They are famous in the Disney fan community for producing a crowd calendar that is exactly what you are looking for.  Their crowd predictions are based on a lot of math and years of data collection.  As an engineer, I am a huge fan of their work.

With regards to the weather, there isn't much difference either in terms of the average temperature and humidity though it can rain more in September and there's a chance for a hurricane or tropical storm.

However, I would chose September.  That's because I am a huge fan of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party which is held in the Magic Kingdom on select nights in September, October, and one or two nights into November.  It is a fabulous event where guests go trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom and there is a special parade and fireworks show.

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
