Do you have any information about Mardi Gras celebrations at Port Orleans resort please? we will be staying at the French Quarter and want to plan it into our time. thanks

Why hello Lucy, and welcome to planDisney!

It's so great to see that you're keen on planning ahead from everything from using Resort Transportation to upcoming celebrations with your trip coming up quite soon! There's just something so wonderful about making the journey across the Atlantic to celebrate Mardi Gras, and I find that Orlando does its best to live up to the wild fun out in New Orleans. I'll also be around to check out Mardi Gras at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter this year so I took the opportunity to pop by and chat with the Cast Members there about what you might expect this year:

    • Mardi Gras itself varies from year to year since it wholly depends on when Easter will be; so while dates and offerings are always subject to change you can expect celebrations to match up with this year's date of Tuesday, February 13, 2024 (as long as nothing changes before then).
    • Mardi Gras events and offerings in the afternoon or evening are always subject to change without prior notice, so I recommend keeping an eye for the posted activities when you arrive as these have historically included appearances by Princess Tiana herself, themed activities and treats or a specially decorated Sassagoula River boat ride! (It wouldn't be a big surprise either if Movies Under the Stars featured The Princess and the Frog that evening!)
With the upcoming opening of Tiana's Bayou Adventure this year, this would definitely be an appropriate time to celebrate the culture and spirit of Mardi Gras, and I definitely hope that you get a chance to enjoy some Cajun cuisine while you do. And whatever you do Lucy - don't forget the beignets!

And as they say down in New Orleans - Laissez les bons temps rouler!
