Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Rich! I just got back from a fabulous trip at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge where I was able to try my first Minnie Van, live and in person. I was rocking the dots all the way to Magic Kingdom!
There is currently no information as to when the Minnie Van fleet will be expanded. You are correct that they are only serving guests at
Disney’s Deluxe Resorts and some DVC villas as of January 2018. While the broader goal is to make the service available to all guests, the slowly growing fleet is working hard to expand. If you happen to be a guest of a Deluxe Resort during your stay, the concierge will be able to verify your room folio and unlock the Minnie Van option within the everyday LYFT app. You won’t have to download a separate app, which is fabulous! You’ll be able to select a Minnie Van just as you would a Carpool or SUV option. When I called my Minnie Van, I hooked it in about 2 minutes, and the driver made their way to me in less than 10 minutes, which was the approximate time we would have waited for a bus. Once inside, the Disney magic was evident, with a spotless interior, assorted phone chargers, two available car seats, motion sickness bags, and a private Cast Member driver. I paid as I normally would with my LYFT app, the charge being $20 for a trip anywhere on Property. Even if I had dropped a family member off at Epcot on my way to Cinderella Castle, the hire fare would have remained the same.
Keep your eyes on the
Disney Parks Blog for news about the fleet’s expansion, but by all means, when you are checking into your Resort Hotel, ask the Front Desk if the Minnie Vans have yet expanded to your Resort! If I can answer another question for you, please let me know. You’ve got a friend in me! ~ Lindsey P.
