Any info on the Shallow Water Dolphin excursion at Atlantis? My husband and 8year old will be participating, myself observing. What can we expect? What should I bring? Will we be able to see the rest of Atlantis? Thanks so much! You ladies are a wonderful!

    Hi, Deanna!

Thanks for using the Moms Panel as a planning resource for your Disney Cruise vacation - we truly appreciate you stopping by with your questions! Helping guests like you plan the most magical vacation possible is why we love doing what we do!

On a recent cruise with a stop in Nassau, my family was able to enjoy the Atlantis Dolphin Cay Shallow Water Interaction. It was an amazing experience we will never forget! Guests spend about two hours in Dolphin Cay, which includes time to change into and out of wet suits (provided), and time for instructions on interaction with the dolphins. Professional photographers will be on hand to capture their time in the water, and your husband and child might just get a kiss from a dolphin! Photos aren't included with the package, so make sure to stop by the gift shop if you want to take some home! Our dolphin pics are really cool - some of my favorite vacation pictures ever.

Guests will need to wear appropriate swimwear (wetsuits will be worn on top of swimwear), and are asked not to wear tanning oils or excessive amounts of sunscreen during the dolphin interaction. We used sunscreen spray that day, because it isn't oily on skin. As an observer, you're allowed to take photos and video from the beach, so make sure to bring along your camera!

There's certainly plenty more to do while visiting Atlantis. You'll have time to explore the shops, beaches, and even the casino while you're there. You can also check out the "ancient ruins" of Atlantis in The Dig, a maze of underground tunnels with lots to see. Lunch is included in the cost of this excursion, and you can choose from several locations on property. We paired our dolphin interaction with a visit to Atlantis Aquaventure, and enjoyed several hours in the 141-acre water park. Some of those water slides (though fun) are not for the faint of heart!!

Hope this helps! Have a wonderful, magical day, Deanna! - Diane W.
