Are there inexpensive or free things to do other than the theme parks?

Hi, Michele!    Yes!   You can find activities that are budget friendly while vacationing at WDW!

-Start right at your resort.   Many resorts (on and off property) offer pool side entertainment, games and movies.  Inquire at check-in for a list of resort activities.

-Head to Fort Wilderness for a campfire and sing-a-long with Chip and Dale.   It's free and it's fun!

-Ride the monorail.   My kids enjoy hopping on the Resort Monorail and checking out the 3 Deluxe Resorts along the way.    We walk around the lobby, the grounds, and see what the pools look like.  Then we pick one of the resorts and have lunch there (my favorite for a quick meal is the counter service restaurant in Polynesian - Captain Cooks.)

-Get an ice cream cone at Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club and stroll the Boardwalk!   It is lovely at night and if you time it right, you'll see some fireworks from Epcot.

-My family likes to visit Downtown Disney.    A great place to walk around, shop, and dine.   No cost to park or enter, stick to "window shopping" and grab a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich or a quick bite at McDonalds for a low cost meal.

I hope you find activities for your family that are entertaining AND fit your budget.  Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
