Hi Teela,
Welcome back to planDisney! We appreciate the opportunity to continue the conversation about the differences between Lightning Lane and Individual Lightning Lane selections at
Walt Disney World Resort. You've done your research, now let's iron out some of the nitty-gritty details.
Many attractions and entertainment offerings throughout the
four theme parks offer a standby line and a Lightning Lane, which provides Guests with a minimal wait time. A majority of these Lightning Lanes can be accessed by purchasing the
Disney Genie+ service. Genie+ allows Guests to make a single Lightning Lane reservation at one of over 40 attractions at 7:00 a.m. You must select the arrival window shown and are eligible to make your next Lightning Lane reservation after the second touchpoint of your first attraction. Alternately, if your first Lightning Lane arrival time is more than two hours after park opening or if a subsequent Lightning Lane reservation is more than two hours after the booking time, you are given a time when you can make an additional Lighting Lane reservation. All of this information refers to the "regular lightning" you spoke of in your question.
Lightning Lane access for the two most in-demand attractions in each theme park requires an
Individual Lightning Lane purchase, which is completely separate from Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations. You can purchase up to two Individual Lightning Lane attractions per day in the
My Disney Experience Mobile App beginning at 7:00 a.m. for
Disney Resorts Collection hotel Guests or park opening for Guests staying off-property. The way the app currently works, you complete one Individual Lightning Lane transaction at a time, but you are welcome to book a second Individual Lightning Lane reservation as soon as you are ready. For each Individual Lightning Lane reservation, you have the flexibility to choose an available return time that works with your schedule.
On a recent EPCOT day, I purchased Genie+ at 6:45 a.m., made my first Lightning Lane reservation for Soarin' Around the World at 7:00 a.m., and purchased an Individual Lightning Lane for Remy's Ratatouille Adventure at 7:05 a.m. I stopped there, but I could have gone on to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane reservation for Frozen Ever After by 7:10 a.m. The only thing you can't do is purchase two Individual Lightning Lane reservations for the same attraction on the same day.
I enjoyed this opportunity to dig a little deeper into the Lightning Lane universe with you. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out to planDisney. We're all EARS!
Choose magic,
