Ahoy Miguel,
Thanks for coming to planDisney with your
Disney Cruise Line planning question. I am happy to help you think about your day on
Disney Castaway Cay!
A day at Castaway Cay is one of my family's favorite days on a Disney cruise. Castaway Cay is Disney's private island. It is a vacation and tropical paradise reserved exclusively for Disney guests. It is an absolutely fabulous place to have the best beach day ever.
I find it helpful to think of Disney Castaway Cay as almost an extension of the cruise ship. From your ship, you will be able to walk or take a short tram ride to access everything on Castaway Cay. Towels are provided as you leave the ship to take with you to the beach, and beach chairs and umbrellas are already set up on the beaches when you arrive. Lunch is provided on the island at Cookies and Cookies Too BBQ. These provide a barbeque-style lunch. There is also a BBQ location at Serenity Bay, the adults-only beach on Castaway Cay.
While on Castaway Cay, you can swim in the ocean and enjoy playing on Pelican Plunge, a floating water play platform. There are areas for children and teenagers to relax and enjoy time at Scuttles Cove and the Teen Hideout, respectively.
Everything that I mentioned above comes included with your cruise fare on a Disney cruise. There are also some
Port Adventures on Castaway Cay as well as other activities that come with a fee. You can rent equipment for fun activities such as bikes, snorkel equipment, or aqua trikes for a nominal fee. You can also book some activities for a fee. On our last cruise, my daughter and I went
parasailing. It was amazing to see the island and the ship from a whole new angle! When she was younger, we also enjoyed taking part in
Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure. During this activity, you get to learn about stingrays - and then feed them!
Overall, I would say that there is plenty to do on Disney Castaway Cay without spending any additional money; however, if you would like to add some of the Port Adventures, they can add fun to your day.
I hope that this information is helpful for you, Miguel! Please feel free to sail back to planDisney with any further questions you have in planning your magical vacation.
