Hi Kaylie,
Welcome to planDisney!
I am glad to see you considering cancellation policies and
travel insurance! My first suggestion would be to carefully read the
Walt Disney Travel Company Terms and Conditions for Walt Disney World® Resort. According to those terms and conditions,
For cancellations made 30 days or more prior to guest arrival, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees assessed by third party hotels or other suppliers, non-refundable runDisney race registrations, non-refundable travel protection plan costs, and other amounts owed, will be refunded. The terms and conditions also include language specific to travel protection. I will say that I have cancelled
vacation package reservations in the past 30 days or more prior to arrival and my deposit has been refunded. I also would advise that if you purchase travel insurance, read the terms and conditions of that insurance very carefully.
The decision is yours. As much as I understand the question, I also know that you may have specific circumstances that will affect your decision. If you are booking a vacation package with flights included through a travel agency, be sure to review the cancellation details with the travel agency as well. Also consider the cancellation and/or change policies of the airline.
Kaylie, I know it may be a difficult decision given the cost of the travel insurance and your budget. I will also clarify that if you are adding on a cruise, I recommend that you consult with one of our
planDisney cruise specialists! Please feel free to
call to speak with a cast member if you have additional questions. Once you have all of your plans confirmed, let the countdown begin!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
