when will the imagine key go on sale again

Greetings, Christian, and welcome to planDisney! I love that you're interested in becoming a Magic Key holder. The Imagine Key is a great option if you plan to visit the Disneyland Resort at least a few times throughout the year.

At the time of writing this, the Imagine Key is still available and can be purchased by Southern California residents living in ZIP codes 90000 to 93599. We don’t know when sales of this pass might pause, or when they would resume. If you're hoping to start using the Imagine Key later this year, you could purchase it now and just wait to activate it.

    Here's how that would work:

    • Purchase the Magic Key pass now when it's available. You'd either make a down payment and start monthly payments (available to California residents) or pay it in full.
    • Even though you’ve paid (or are making monthly payments), the pass wouldn’t actually start its one-year countdown until the first day you use it to enter a theme park (or if you use the parking benefit on the pass for a fully-paid first entry into a pay-on-entry lot).
    • You’d have one year from the purchase date to activate the pass.
    • The downside is you'd be paying for the pass upfront (or making payments while not using it yet), but the upside is you'd have your pass secured, and you'd still have a full 12 months to enjoy it upon activation. Plus, monthly payments would stop once the pass is paid in full.
Of course, you can also choose to wait and see how Magic Key sales unfold later in the year. If sales pause, just keep checking the Magic Key page on the Disneyland website, as well as the Disneyland Magic Key page on Instagram, for announcements on when sales will resume.

I love being a Magic Key holder. There's something special about visiting the Disneyland Resort while knowing there are future visits on the horizon. Keep in mind that the Imagine Key allows you to hold up to two theme park reservations at a time. If you want to be able to hold more reservations and visit select dates during the summer months, you might want to look into the Explore Key. Once you get a pass, check the Extras Unlocked page periodically to see what other benefits you can enjoy as a Magic Key holder. The Disney Parks Blog is another good resource – I use it to stay up to date on all the exciting announcements about the Resort.

Christian, I hope this information has been helpful as you continue looking into purchasing your very own Magic Key pass. If you have any other questions, please reach out – we're always happy to help here at planDisney!
