Hi Kelly!
What a great question!
My favourite places to shop for 'interesting & non-typical' Disney souvenirs are actually
outside of the parks themselves ...
A great resort shop worth checking out is Zawadi Marketplace just off the lobby in Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House. You'll find an array of "Mickey head icon" merchandise in fun, animal prints. It's a fascinating store to spend time browsing around for an atypical item!
The Downtown Disney Area has many interesting shops for unique Disney souvenirs. You'll find great stores in both the Downtown Disney Marketplace and Downtown Disney West Side areas.
For something definitely unique and one of a kind, check out Disney's Design-a-Tee and create a customized gift! There's also Disney's Days of Christmas where you can have a special Christmas ornament hand-painted and customized with a name. So many beautiful treasures & keepsakes are to be had in this shop. For something on the cutting edge of fashion with a distinctive, added Disney flair check out TrenD boutique or some of the unique clothing & accessories at D Street in the West Side.
You'll find frameable prints, unique 'nostalgia' posters & Disney animation art at The Art of Disney. There's 2 locations, one just inside Epcot and the other in the Downtown Disney Marketplace. It's one of my personal favourite places to spend some time browsing & dreaming.
Also in Epcot, visit the shops of the 11 countries represented as you take a walk around World Showcase Lagoon. There are some very unique, Disney items to be found 'all around the world' here!
I hope you find that perfect gift that you're after in one of these non-typical souvenir shops!
Have a Magical time shopping Kelly!
