I'm wondering if the Polynesian Resort is still doing the torch lighting ceremony. I seem to find conflicting reports. Thanks

Hi Mary! Ah, so you have heard about this very special event that takes place at the Polynesian Resort!  Each evening many guests are surprised with this short but authentic ceremony that takes place at the entrance to the Polynesian Resort.  About an hour before sunset some of the great luau entertainers will greet the lobby guests and usher then outside for a brief "Welcome of the Night" ceremony.  A fire dancer comes in through the drumming of the drums and chanting to light the torches that line the way into the resort building. He will then do a few minutes of fire dancing before the ceremony comes to an end!

What a great sense of being in the islands when you watch this show.  It is the little details that make all of the Disney resorts special places to be and to stay. I believe a few years ago this show was scheduled to be scrapped for cost cutting but as of early January it is here at the Polynesian so perhaps guests comments brought it back.
