Welcome to planDisney, Sarah! We are glad to have you here.
I too noticed that
Magic Kingdom Park is closing earlier on February 8 than the rest of the week. The most likely reason is there is a private event scheduled that evening.
Although
park hours may be shorter that day, this would actually be a perfect scenario to use
admission that includes the park hopping option. On days when a theme park closes early for
Disney After Hours or another event, many Guests choose to avoid visiting that day. Usually, crowds are light and wait times for
attractions are low. My recommendation would be to visit Magic Kingdom Park starting first thing in the morning. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by just how much you'll be able to accomplish in the shortened hours! Then when Magic Kingdom Park closes, hop over to another theme park to continue the fun.
I think this would be an excellent day to take advantage of
Disney Genie+ service. While you are enjoying low wait times at Magic Kingdom Park, you can plan Lightning Lane experiences for the park you are planning to hop to.
If your theme park tickets do not include the park hopper option, stop by any
Guest Relations location to upgrade your tickets. Even if you decide not to park hop, I still think visiting Magic Kingdom Park on this date is a good plan. My guess is you'll actually be able to experience at least the same number of attractions as on a day with longer hours, maybe more! Then spend the evening enjoying a nice dinner, relaxing by the pool at your resort, and perhaps a
recreation activity such as miniature golf.
Sarah, I wish you a wonderful time as you visit Walt Disney World Resort. Please let us know if you have any additional questions - we are always happy to help.
