Hi, I’m wondering does the Na’vi River Journey offer a rider switch as it’s listed as having one on one part of the Disney site but not the other. I have a member in my party in a wheelchair and it would be hard to transfer him onto the ride.

    Hi Jamie!

There has been a bit of confusion over this new attraction in the great new Pandora-World of Avatar section of the Animal Kingdom park.

The Na'vi River Journey attraction is a wonderful easy boat ride taking you through the land of Pandora with everyone trying to reach the shaman. It is not a thrill ride in any way but at this time they do not have handicap accessible boats. All guests must be able to transfer into the boats from wheelchairs or ECVs. Since you mentioned that the member of your party would not be able to transfer then you would certainly be able to use the Rider Switch option. I believe it is not listed as most guests will be able to handle such a ride since it is an easy cruise. However, for those guests who have physical issues that do not allow them to get into a boat this option is available to them. I know others with similar situations that have used Rider Switch so unless they decide to suddenly take this away it is available. When you arrive at the attraction ask a cast member for instructions.

Enjoy the land of Pandora and try to visit in the evening hours too as it takes on a completely different feeling with all the "hidden" lighting affects throughout!
