I'm wondering if any of the moms (or dads) have a kid(s) with special needs. My son has CP and uses a wheelchair to get around. I know that the park us very accessible but what about some of the extra things like the pirate cruise?

    Hi Sara ~

I have a son with several special needs including Cerebral Palsy. We always try to include him in as many activities and special experiences that we can on our trips.

I contacted Disney's Tour Department regarding the Pirate Adventure Cruises for kids ages 4 - 12. Unfortunately, their boats are not wheelchair accessible. However, the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage is an excellent alternative and it is great for the entire family. Their boats are wheelchair accessible and we've sailed several times without any problems. My son loves it and the crew always pays a little extra attention to him.

Another fun adventure is Characters in Flight at Downtown Disney. Guests in wheelchairs are welcome to soar above Downtown Disney.

We also love heading to Fort Wilderness for Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long. Plan to arrive early for the character experience before the movie begins.

If your son is over 7 years old, he may enjoy the Fort Wilderness Archery Experience.

Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf or Winter Summerland Miniature Golf are wheelchair accessible.

We've also enjoyed dockside cane pole fishing at Port Orleans.

I'm limited in space but please feel free to visit again. I'm hEAR for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
