    I'm just wondering how you become the Grand Marshall for one of the parades?

    Hi Melissa!

    Walt Disney World is a vacation destination full of pixie dust and magic. Many guests will dream of sleeping in Cinderella's Castle or leading off a Magic Kingdom parade as the Grand Marshal. I am very lucky to have had both dreams come true over the years.

    Each day one or two very lucky and random families are chosen to be the Grand Marshal of the Magic Kingdom parade. This is usually done at the beginning of the day as families are entering the Magic Kingdom park. Put on your best smiles and start the day happy and your chances are better then those families who are just trying to wake up. The chosen guests are asked to return to meet up later to be a part of the afternoon parade. They are given personalized and special Mickey ears to wear and will ride in one of several very special Disney autos. They will ride ahead of the parade floats and wave to the crowds. When they get to the end they will be given special viewing of the parade as well.

    Many years ago my parents were chosen to be the Grand Marshals and several years ago my own family was chosen. It is truly a dream come true and a memory of a lifetime. I have never felt lucky but I have been certainly very blessed.
