Why hello there Anna, I'm proud to welcome you to planDisney as a former resident of Australia myself!
When it comes to recognizing all of the women and men who have served and continue to serve in the military and armed forces, The Walt Disney Company typically provides offers like
special discounts on tickets, exclusive
military rates for Disney Cruise Line voyages and even
Disney Resort Hotel stays beyond what is available at
Shades of Green Resort.
I took the opportunity to reach out to a Walt Disney World Resort Cast Member who let me know that unfortunately these offers currently only apply to Americans who are "Eligible Service Members", which includes the following:
- "Active or retired members of the US Military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the US Coast Guard, the US Space Force, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Special military rates are available to retired and active US military personnel (and their spouses), including US Coast Guard, US National Guard, US Military Reserves and US Department of Defense personnel. Members of the US National Guard or the US Military Reserves (or their spouses) must show active-duty orders dated January 1st of the previous year to qualify."
That said, I do personally know of members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have nonetheless inquired directly in person during their Walt Disney World Resort holidays, and received recognition and various discounts upon presentation of their identification. (Though as an international guest this can never be guaranteed and may be at the discretion of the Cast Members and their leadership due to the official policy clearly stating American eligibility, it may be worth asking as
it appears to have been successful for other folks in the past.)
