Brandy from MT Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I'm a widowed mom, taking 3 kids to wdw for the 1st time! My middle kid is scared of rollercoasters. Her siblings and I want to ride at least once! I know the child activity centers are gone. Anything you can suggest? They're 12, 9, 6

Hey there Mouseketeer Brandy and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Wahooo! You are going to Walt Disney World Resort with your amazing family...and the award for Mom of the Year goes to...YOU! Savor every moment and make sure to see Mickey Mouse and the gang.

I am so glad you asked this question. I have been alone with my boys who are four years apart and one wants to ride an attraction and one does not. Here is what I do. Many of the thrill attractions end very close if not exactly where they begin. For example, in Magic Kingdom Park, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Seven Dwarf Mine Train all start/stop at the same place. I explain to the Disney cast member (Disney speak for employee) that one of my sons is choosing not to ride. The cast member will allow my son to stand against a wall and wait for us or lead my son to the exit of the attraction to wait while we ride. Please speak with a cast member before you get in line and tell them your situation to look for solutions that work best for your family. Roller coasters can be intimidating but some of the smaller ones like the Barnstormer are a great way to get started before hitting the bigs ones like Space Mountain.

Disney Dad Tip: Since this is your first time you want to capture all the photos. Disney PhotoPass Photographers will take your picture with their camera and your camera. Their pictures, through Disney PhotoPass Service, can be customized online with special frames and stickers as well as signatures. There are locations for Magic Shots too. Please take the time to capture memories so you and your kids can relieve the place "where dreams come true" over and over.

Brandy, enjoy making many Magical Memories.
