Hi! Im going to WDW in June of 24 and I haven't been to a Disney park without needing a reservation. Since I'll have tickets for 6 days, do I show up to whatever park I want to enter or do I choose beforehand? Thank you!

    Hi Joseph, welcome to planDisney!

While my husband and I were honeymooning at Walt Disney World Resort over 15 years ago, we decided which park we wanted to visit around 9:00 a.m. each morning. As Mary Poppins would say, "Can you imagine that?!" There was occasionally an advance dining reservation or extra magic hours offering that influenced our decision (Magic Kingdom Park stayed open until 3:00 a.m. one day!) but I remember feeling footloose and fancy-free each day.

You, too, have the opportunity to see where the colors of the wind take you at Walt Disney World Resort this June, Joseph. Date-based tickets do not require theme park reservations beginning January 9, 2024, so you can change your mind about what park you wish to experience each day up until the moment you use a tapstile to enter one of the four theme parks. Just make sure your tickets are properly linked in My Disney Experience and that you've made plans for a method of entry (MagicBand, MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, or admission card). If you happen to have tickets with the Park Hopper Option, you can park 'hop' anytime you wish during park hours.

Great power comes with great responsibility, so let me point out a few things to consider when planning your park days. Advance reservations for dining can be made online up to 60 days in advance. Guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel can book for their entire length of stay (up to 10 days) 60 days before check-in. If the wish your heart makes is for a popular restaurant such as Cinderella's Royal Table that books up quickly, you have the flexibility to try for multiple dates and/or take advantage of last-minute cancellations. Also consider that Early Theme Park Entry for Disney Resort Hotel Guests happens every day at all four parks, but Extended Evening Theme Park Hours for Guests of Disney Deluxe Resorts, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, and other select hotels are only scheduled on select dates.

Another thing to plan for is that certain popular attractions may not have a traditional standby queue during your visit. Currently, TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT can only be experienced by joining a virtual queue or purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane. If you're even considering experiencing one of these attractions each day, you should use your My Disney Experience mobile app to join the virtual queue at 7:00 a.m. sharp (three small lines at the bottom right of the app's homepage > Virtual Queues). I actually recommend confirming your party by 6:55 a.m. and clicking "Refresh" repeatedly in the seconds leading up to 7:00 a.m. Virtual queue boarding groups often fill up within seconds and you don't want to miss out on either of these thrilling attractions during your visit.

I hope this information helps you maximize the magic in your 6-day tickets, Joseph. For what it's worth, if I had 6-day tickets to use, I'd spend two days at Magic Kingdom Park, two days at EPCOT, and one day at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

    Plan magic; planDisney.
