Hello, Brooke!
Thank you for stopping by planDisney. I am happy to answer a question from a fellow Nevadan!
Rider Switch is a super helpful option for Guests traveling with little ones who are not tall enough to ride some attractions. Adult Guests using Rider Switch take turns waiting with the kids and when their family members get off the attraction, the waiting adult can skip the standby line to ride it. My family has used Rider Switch countless times during our trips to Disneyland Resort because it allows the adults in our family to ride many attractions that our kids cannot ride.
I know how fun it is to wait in line together with the entire family! Guests are not usually allowed to wait in attraction queues if they do not meet the
height requirements in my experience, even if they are not going to ride the attraction. I am sorry! Cast Members generally measure a Guest's height at the queue entrance, and Guests who are not tall enough can not usually wait in the queue. You can certainly ask the Cast Member at each attraction if everyone can wait in line together, but I would not plan on that being an option for most attractions.
When my family uses Rider Switch, I often take the little ones on an attraction without height requirements while my family waits in line for their attraction. Fortunately, there are many baby-friendly attractions at Disneyland Resort! Some of my favorites include
"it's a small world",
The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure, and
Pirates of the Caribbean. Fantasyland is also filled with family-friendly attractions! Oh, I cannot forget to mention that
Halloween Time takes place during your visit, and I hope the Haunted Mansion Holiday is open then! It features Jack Skellington and the rest of The Nightmare Before Christmas crew as they deck the halls in the Haunted Mansion.
You can search for attractions that your entire family can enjoy on the
Disneyland mobile app. Click the map icon at the bottom of the app and select attractions at the top of the map. On the left, choose "Filter". This is where you can filter attractions by age, height requirements, thrill factor, and more.
Spending time in one of the
Baby Care Centers while waiting for your turn to use Rider Switch is another good idea. They offer quiet places to feed your little one, plus changing tables, feeding areas with high chairs, and more. A vending machine is also available with formula, baby food, sunscreen, and all kinds of things your baby might need.
Brooke, have a wonderful visit to Disneyland Resort! We hope to see you real soon!
Magic Happens!
