Hi Ash, and welcome back to planDisney. It’s always great to see Guests return to us here at planDisney time and again for our advice, recommendations, and Disney knowledge. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your vacation planning journey.
Walt Disney World Resort does an amazing job ensuring that
Guests with mobility needs can experience the magic right alongside everyone else. For those using crutches, Cast Members are typically ready to assist with boarding and unloading attractions, and they’ll have the walking stick or crutch waiting for you when you return. I recommend checking with the Cast Member at the start of each queue so you know exactly what the process will look like. That way, both you and your friend can feel comfortable before getting in line.
For some Guests, it may be more convenient to
rent a wheelchair or an
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) at the theme park. Almost every attraction can accommodate these devices in the queue, and in many cases, right up until boarding the ride. When that isn’t possible, Cast Members will help with a transfer from an ECV to a wheelchair or directly into the ride vehicle. There are a few experiences that require Guests to be fully ambulatory, such as the Swiss Family Treehouse, but these are rare. You can find more detailed attraction-by-attraction information on the
Services for Guests with Mobility Needs page of the Walt Disney World website.
Ash, I hope this reassures you that your friend will be able to enjoy so much of what Walt Disney World has to offer. And if you have more questions or would like some recommendations for your upcoming trip, don’t be a stranger,
come back and ask away.
TTFN,
Brent
