Hi! I'm visiting Disney World from 6/18-6/22. This will be my first time in Florida during that time. What should I expect for the heat, humidity, and sun intensity? I burn easily and get heat exhaustion, I just want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks!

Hi Kaitlyn!  I won't try to sugar coat the weather in Florida in the summer. Days are hot and humid and extra care should be given to keeping hydrated and protected from the sun's rays.  The temperatures will range from 71-91 degrees but the hardest part to handle is the high humidity. During the summer months you will also find the almost daily rain shower or quick thunderstorm which adds to the steamy feeling.

Be sure and protect yourself with the highest number of sun screen and apply it every several hours as when you sweat you will unknowingly wipe it off. The second most important thing is to keep water with you at all times. If you stay hydrated and keep your pace slow and easy you will have more enjoyment in the parks. There is no need to rush and run...the attractions aren't going anywhere. If you find something you wish to try and there is a line know that Disney has tried to make the queue areas as comfortable as possible with AC and misters. Bring a nice wide brimmed hat and dress is cool clothes as well as colors. White is the coolest color for the summer! Head back to the resort mid day when the sun is at its peak and try to be in the parks early morning or late afternoons and evenings.

If you remember two things you will enjoy the trip more and those are walk and water. Don't rush and keep drinking your water and the park visits will be just as much fun as any other time of year!
