I'm a Veteran eligible to purchase general discounted tickets through MWR or ITT OFFICE. I do not have a valid ID yet I am a military star holder and a honorable discharge veteran. When activating the tickets at guest services will a DD 214 be ok .

    Hi Daniel!

Welcome to planDisney! First and foremost, please allow me to say 'Thank You!' for your service on behalf of all of my fellow panelists!

I'm an Air Force wife and I know exactly which theme park admission tickets you're talking about. There are technically two types of Disneyland tickets for sale on U.S. Military Bases, Posts, and Installations. The most widely known ticket is the Disney Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket, also commonly known as the 'Disney Military Salute' offer. This ticket is only eligible to those who are currently Active Duty, Reservists, Fully Retired, or who have a 100% service-connected Disability.

My husband is actually on Veteran status right now while we're waiting on his first Reserve assignment after getting out of Active Duty, so the above tickets are not available to us at the moment as he's 'just' a Veteran. However, like you, we can also purchase the 'Discounted General Admission' Disneyland (and Walt Disney World Resort!) tickets that are sold at base ticket offices. The ruling for these is that you only have to show proof of your service at the time of purchase on base/post. You do not need to validate these tickets on the day of use. When my family was stationed in Southern California, I would buy these tickets often for friends and family who came into town to visit and they had no trouble using them without me present. I've actually purchased these tickets several times for my dear friends and fellow panelists Veronica and Kristin C.

Pro Tip: If you don't already have these tickets yet, call the base/post to see if you'll be able to purchase them with just a DD214; some bases allow it, others require Veterans to have an updated VHIC from the VA that lists your disability rating. (Per the '2019 John McCain National Defense Authorization Act' that opened up base access to Veterans. You could also have a friend with base access purchase these tickets for you as there is no limit as to how many can be purchased in a calendar yEAR.)

I hope that this helped to clEAR your question up, Daniel! Thank you again so, SO much for your Service!
