Ahoy there, Sandra! Welcome aboard planDisney!
I see your sailing is just around the corner, and this time next month you'll be anxiously awaiting the final countdown to your cruise! A post-Thanksgiving sailing on the
Disney Cruise Line fleet? Consider me extra jealous! That's not too far away, so let's get to your answer!
Currently, if you are sailing from the United States, you do not need to be vaccinated, although vaccination is highly recommended. If you are sailing unvaccinated, you will have to provide the results of a negative COVID-19 test taken 1-2 days prior to sailing. Now, the clarity you're looking for: this is in calendar days, so if you are departing on a Friday, testing on Wednesday should be perfectly acceptable!
Earlier this year when we had to get my son tested to be cleared to sail, we elected to take him to an urgent care center for a rapid PCR test so we could be sure the test results would be quick, official, and satisfy the requirements. Once you receive your results, you'll need to upload them to Safe Passage in order to be cleared! Remember: you can even test using a
proctored home test, which can be done from the convenience of a hotel room if you are traveling in the days leading up to your cruise and can't get to a physical testing location.
Having said that, when it comes to Covid-19 testing requirements, this year has seen many changes, so I highly encourage you to review the
Know Before You Go section of the website often as your cruise approaches!
I hope that provides for smooth sailing as you get closer and closer to an incredible Disney Cruise Line vacation with you and your crew! Thank you for your question, and if you have any others, you know where to find us here at
planDisney!
Fair winds and following seas!
