Welcome to planDisney, Lisa! We are glad you stopped by with your question.
Whether or not your boys will be able to purchase
Disney Genie+ service when logged in to their
My Disney Experience accounts will depend on their age. Disney Genie+ service may only be purchased by Guests aged 18 and over. Even though your boys are linked to your account, they will not have access to your stored credit card and cannot make purchases using your card. As an adult linked to your sons' accounts, you may purchase Disney Genie+ for them or anyone in your
Family & Friends List. Disney Genie+ can be purchased anytime after midnight on the date of a theme park visit. Because Guests may reserve their first
Lightning Lane attraction
beginning at 7:00 am, I usually purchase Disney Genie+ about 5 to 10 minutes prior to 7:00. Lightning Lane selections may be made by Guests who are at least 16 years of age and have Genie+ linked to their profile.
Children must be at least 13 years of age to create a My Disney Experience account; teens under age 18 have limited-access accounts. Guests under the age of 18 cannot store a payment method in their accounts. If you would like your boys to be able to buy meals and snacks using
Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering, I recommend giving them
Disney Gift Cards. Although Disney Gift Cards can not be stored as a payment method in My Disney Experience, they can be used as payment during the checkout process. What I do is store the gift card numbers as a note on my phone so I can just copy and paste instead of typing in the numbers each time I place an order. E-gift cards can be ordered through
shopDisney for immediate use.
Lisa, I hope this information has been helpful. Please feel free to send us any additional questions you may have.
