Hello.. I'm trying to plans trip for next summer to Walt Disney world with my 10 year old daughter. I'm just wondering if you can give me some ideas as to what would be better for her, since she has a speech impediment and still believes she is a five year

    Hi Decarla.

As the mother of a child that has struggled with emotional and developmental delays, I more than understand your concerns. However, you're about to discover that in addition to being the Happiest Place on Earth, Walt Disney World Resort is also a spectacular destination for special families. The cast members work diligently to accommodate the needs of all of their guests so that everyone can have an amazing Disney Day.

Since we have some time prior to your summer travel dates, I'm going to share a few favorite unofficial websites that I'd recommend you peruse for ideas. Then, feel free to come back to me with more questions as you think about implementing some of these different strategies.

    The resources include:
    1. www.mouse-aid.com
    2. www.allears.net and then type in "special needs" in the search box
    3. www.diz-abled.com

You'll also want to check out this detailed answer provided by fellow Disney Mom Ritzy regarding the Guest Assistance Card, in case you feel your daughter's theme park experience would be enhanced with this service.

Please let me know how I may be of further assistance as you plan a magical Disney vacation for your princess!
