Hi, I’m trying to plan out a vacation for everyone in my family (6) can ride more than one attraction per day using Genie+ Lightning Lane Entrance or would the regular Lightning Lane Entrance allow us to ride more than one attraction per day.

    Hello Miguel,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. This month is going to fly by, and before you know it you'll be joining The World's Most Magical Celebration! I know you'll make a lot of treasured memories, but traveling with a family of 6 takes a lot of planning to make sure everyone has a great time.

I hope I understand your question correctly. You're trying to make sure you get to experience as much as possible and are wondering if adding Genie+ to your tickets will be the best way to do that, is that right? If you've already added Genie+ to all of your tickets, you will certainly be able to use it to help your family skip the lines at several attractions in all 4 theme parks. If you haven't already purchased it, I know that the cost can add up with a larger family, so you may not need it in every park. The great news is, you can decide that each morning of your vacation.

To begin, there are only two lines for each attraction: a Lightning Lane and a Standby Line (a normal line). The ONLY guest who can access Lightning Lanes are those who have either purchased Genie+ or purchased Individual Lightning Lane access for a very few of the most popular attractions throughout Walt Disney World. Having Genie+ is only the first step to be able to use Lightning Lanes. In order to be allowed into these special lines you'll need to book a Lightning Lane return time using your My Disney Experience app on your mobile device.

Here's how it works. Beginning at 7:00 AM you'll be able to make a Lightning Lane selection for everyone in your group. You can book another Lightning Lane either 1) after you've checked into the attraction where you made your first selection, or 2) 120 minutes after the park officially opens for the day. You can continue making and redeeming Lightning Lane selections throughout your Disney day. Even if you leave the parks to take a break, you'll still be able to book a Lightning Lane if you see an attraction that has one available for later in the day. By doing this your family should be able to book at least 3 Lightning Lanes during the day and often several more than that.

I like to have Genie+ for every day in the parks, but if you are trying to budget, I recommend getting Genie+ for the days you plan to head to Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios. I've found Genie+ to be especially helpful in these two parks. In parks like Disney's Animal Kingdom, you may want to use the money you would save by not purchasing Genie+ and put it towards an Individual Lightning Lane purchase for Avatar Flight of Passage. If you can save time for one major attraction, then you'll have more time to spend in standby lines for other attractions.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
