Hi, I'm trying to plan our first trip to Disney World in August. I have a 15 and 18 yo daughters and I don't know where to start! Which parks should we go to? Which resort and dining places? Really overwhelming! Your help will really be appreciated

    Hi Calista,

My daughters are 14 and 20, so I hope I can help.

There are attractions at all four parks that they find especially appealing now, mostly the more thrilling rides such as Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom; Test Track at Epcot; Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom; and Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios.

But they still get a kick out of the old favorites they loved as little girls, such as the Mad Tea Party.

I suggest your daughters visit the Disney website and come up with two or three attractions they each want to do at every park. That will help you make a general itinerary. But try not to over-schedule your days. You want to have time to explore leisurely.

Regarding lodging, our favorite value resort has long been Pop Century. One minor issue now that the girls are older: They don't like to share a double bed, so we get a roll-away, which can be a tight squeeze.

Our favorite moderate resort (with bigger beds) is Port Orleans French Quarter. If we splurge for a deluxe resort, we're partial to the Beach Club because of the convenience to Epcot.

Deciding where to eat is always hard because we love so many of the options. My girls are adventurous eaters, largely because they grew up tasting new foods at Disney. The buffets are great because they give you a chance to try more exotic flavors along with traditional favorites. Our top buffets are Boma, Cape May Cafe and Crystal Palace.

We also love nibbling our way around the World Showcase at Epcot, getting a small treat from each country.

The new Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom is not to be missed for both food and decor. And you should consider a character meal such as Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary resort.

I could go on for days about Disney dining, but I'm limited on space. So please write me back if you want to hear more. Enjoy!
