I'm trying to plan a family trip for somewhere between 12-30 people on a 5 or 7 day disney cruise. I'm a little ovewhelmed and not sure what would be the best. Ages will range from 14 months to 76. Cost saving tips? February a good time to go?

    Hi Caren,

I understand how you feel!  I've planned large family vacations for my family ranging from infants to great-grandparents.   First of all - yes, February is a GREAT time to go.  Typically the colder winter temperatures will be behind you and the real summer weather is yet to come.  Having recently sailed I found the seas to be calm compared to the fall season.

My biggest cost savings advice would be to start out with a 5-night voyage.  Although many that have sailed 7-nights will say they could never go back to a shorter voyage, I think for a large family vacation this is a perfect duration.  It will give everyone a fantastic dose of the cruise experience, but at a more reasonable cost.

For a party of this size it may be worth looking hiring a town-car company to provide transfers from the airport to the Port.  The DCL transfer charge is about $70 per person so it is very possible that you may save money by hiring a van to bring you.  I recently used Florida Dolphin Tours and was very impressed with their service.

I always prefer to book my air separately as I tend to find better deals online and like to have control over my flight times.

Lastly, I suggest you register at www.disneycruise.com; this will allow you to be kept up to date on the latest deals and incentives.

    Hope this helps!
