I'm trying to plan my families first trip to Disneyland and am looking for advice on what to do with a 4 year old, a 7 year old and a 9 year old

Hi there Paul, and welcome to planDisney!  How exciting that you'll be visiting the "Happiest Place on Earth" this Fall, it's one of my favorite times to visit!

My first piece of advice would be to explore the attractions and entertainment offerings in both Disneyland Park as well as Disney California Adventure Park.  I highly recommend visiting both theme parks if you can, as there is so much to enjoy in both parks for the whole family!

Next, I always recommend to prioritize your top three to five activities for each park day, whether that includes attractions, character experiences, or entertainment.  We like to start with attractions, and we prioritize our list by what Disney movies and stories we enjoy the most.  For example, if you have a Star Wars fan in your family, I highly recommend visiting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Park for the immersive attractions, atmosphere, and food offerings.  If you have a Cars and Lightning McQueen fan like I do in my house, you cannot miss a trip to Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park for a ride on Radiator Springs Racers!

A great feature of the Disneyland app and site is that you can filter the list of attractions by height requirement.  If a few of your little Mouseketeers don't fully measure up to the height requirement for certain attractions, you can filter by "Any Height", and find a list of attractions that the entire family can enjoy together.

Since it is your first time visiting the Disneyland Resort, you can also pick up complimentary "First Visit" buttons at City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A., or at the Chamber of Commerce on Buena Vista Street.  You can also ask a Cast Member at one of the many shops around the Disneyland Resort for these wonderful celebratory buttons to commemorate your first of hopefully many visits!

I know there is a lot of information that goes into planning your Disneyland Resort vacation Paul, and we're here to help!  Please do not hesitate to come back and ask me any other questions you may have for your trip.

    Have a magical day!
