I'm trying to plan out dining & event reservations. About how much time should I allow to gain entry to the parks, how long to dine (table service & character dining), & how long to walk from one section of the park to another?

Hello, Amy thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question.

Lining up your meals and events while you visit the Walt Disney World Resort is important. And knowing how to travel between point A and point B is equally important. No one wants to be like the White Rabbit running late, and I will be happy to be your guide.

When it comes to walking from one end of the park to the other end, the longest walk is about 17 minutes and that is from The American Adventure to Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. I would always give an extra 5-10 minutes in case you need to stop and take a picture or use the restrooms. The longest walk at Magic Kingdom Park will be around 10 minutes between Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain. Depending on your source of transportation and location I always expect about 1.5 hours of travel time between your Disney Resort Collections Hotel and the front gates of your theme park destination. Sometimes it is an hour and you will be there a little early, but better to be early than late for reservations.

If you are attending a nighttime specially ticketed event like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, I would plan to arrive earlier than the 7 p.m. party time. You can enter as early as 4 p.m. and can enjoy a couple of attractions or eat a meal before the party starts. Once the party starts that’s when the fun starts. Snacks will be all over the park and you will be able to pick up cookies and cocoa. Be on the lookout for Mickey and all his friends in their holiday best outfits.

I hope this information helps you get around the resort a little easier and most importantly promptly. Please visit us again at planDisney.com if you have any other questions.

    Have a magical stay,

    Jeremy A.
