I'm trying to pay for magic bands with my Disney rewards redemption card. When I try to enter it into the mobile app, it keeps asking for an expiration date. Does the Disney rewards redemption card have that? Or is there something else I need to do!

    Hi Shelley,

It's great to see you planning Disney at planDisney again! MagicBands are my favorite in-park accessory. I appreciate the hands-free tech that allows me to tap in at theme park entry, at Lightning Lane entrances, and with Disney PhotoPass photographers. MagicBand+ will be available online at shopDisney and at select retail locations around Walt Disney World Resort beginning July 27. MagicBand+ is not currently available for a pre-arrival discount for my October Disney Resorts Collection Hotel reservation, so my own MagicBand purchase is currently on hold awaiting further updates.

There are just a few Walt Disney World Resort vacation items you can't use a Disney Rewards Redemption Card for, Shelley, and pre-arrival MagicBand purchases made online in conjunction with a Disney Resorts Hotel reservation are unfortunately one of those items. If you'd really like to use your Disney Rewards Redemption Card to purchase your party's MagicBands, you can always check the inventory on shopDisney or make a purchase after your arrival. Just make sure your MagicBands are linked to My Disney Experience before entering your first theme park.

When using your Disney Rewards Redemption Card to make other purchases in the My Disney Experience mobile app (Disney Genie+ service, Individual Lighting Lane purchases, mobile food and beverage orders, etc.), look for the "Use a Different Payment Method" option. On my iPhone, this appears under the "Check out with Apple Pay" button. From there, click the "+ Add a Card" option, select "Disney Rewards Redemption Card" and enter your 16-digit card number. Disney Rewards Redemption Cards cannot be saved as a method of payment in My Disney Experience like a credit card, so I recommend saving your card number as a note in your phone so you can copy and paste it as needed. The same recommendation applies to Disney Gift Cards and Disney Dining Cards.

I hope this information helps you maximize the magic on your Disney vacation, Shelley. We hope to see you and your thoughtful questions at planDisney again soon!

    Choose magic,
