I'm trying to find out what the suggested tip should be for buffets. Can you help me out on that one? I see the suggestions for everything else, but buffet tipping. Thanks

    Hi Mary Lynn,

Great question!! It seems like tipping for the hospitality and travel industries has recently become a heavily debated topic. Of course, Walt Disney World hasn't been excluded from those conversations!

Personally, I'd like to think that I'm a generous tipper when I get exceptional service (which is often the case when I'm at Walt Disney World!). As such, I usually give a 20% tip when I get exceptional service at a buffet restaurant.

Even though the cast members aren't taking your order and delivering your food like they would in a traditional restaurant, they're super attentive with beverage service, keeping your table in order, and doing anything else you may need in order to have an enjoyable experience. That being said, I like to reward them for their hustle.

Here's a little "tip" from your buddy Derek:

If your party has 6 or more guests, you will automatically have an 18% gratuity added to your bill. If you get exceptional service from a cast member, you can always add a few extra bucks on top of that automatic 18% as a way to say thank you.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
