I'm trying to decide if my family and I (including my 7 year old daughter) should visit one or both of Disney World water parks. We have never been to disney world and will be there for 9 days/8 nights. Would you recommend one over the other?

Welcome back to Disney Parks Moms Panel, Mechelle!

Oh, wow! Your very first visit to Walt Disney World, and you have 9 days to explore the magic? So well done!

When we visit Walt Disney World for an extended stay, my family and I love to spend a day at either Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. (Warning: you may say, as we have, "We'll just spend the morning here, then head out after lunch." That won't happen; these parks are so much fun!) If you think you may need to choose one over the other, though, let's take a look at your family's interests and the highlights of each water park.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, for example, has the most incredible wave pool: Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool. It's easy to spend hours hopping the waves--if you're adventurous--or wading a bit further back from the action. Both Crush 'n' Gusher, the coaster-like raft ride, and Humunga Kowabunga are a blast for those 48" and taller, so be sure to check your little one's height before choosing.

Over at Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, you'll find the intense Summit Plummet (48" or taller to ride), and the slightly less-intimidating Slush Gusher (also 48" or taller) but also Tike's Peak (48" or shorter), which was a favorite of my two when they were ready for fun, but weren't quite tall enough to tackle the biggest adventures. Teamboat Springs, Melt-Away Bay, and Cross Country Creek are favorites for Guests of all ages and heights, so check those out as you consider your options, too.

My family likes to arrive early and find a location to call home, hunkering down in a shady spot that will be convenient for relaxing (napping?) in between all of the fun activities. Don't forget your sunscreen and towels, but if you do, you'll be able purchase or rent whatever you need throughout your day of water park adventure.

Have a blast on your upcoming visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, Mechelle! Be sure to send us more questions as you think of them, too. We love to help!
