Disney's Magical Express

I'm trying to decide on dinner plans for the day we land. How much time should I allow between the time we land and the time we get to our resort? If we want to go to Disney Springs, how long is it from AOA?

Hi, Ashley. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your transportation question. Your April trip is right around the corner! Spring is really a lovely time of year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort.

You don't mention the mode of transportation you're using to travel between Orlando International Airport and your resort hotel, so I'll give you a few scenarios. If you're using Disney's Magical Express service, your travel time will depend upon the number of stops your particular motorcoach has routed during your trip. In my experience, Disney's Magical Express busses will stop at up to four resorts on any given one-way route. If Disney's Art of Animation Resort happens to be the first stop after the motorcoach leaves the airport, you can expect the travel time to be around thirty minutes. If you allow for additional resort stops, your best bet is to plan an hour and fifteen minutes total for driving time.

If you'll be renting a car and driving to the resort hotel yourself, the driving time will also be right around thirty minutes, but it's best to allow at least thirty minutes to retrieve any checked baggage and complete the process of checking out at the rental car counter. I would allow the same amount of time, a total of one hour, if you're planning to use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft.

Assuming you plan to use Walt Disney World Bus Service to get from your resort hotel to Disney Springs, it's best to allow ninety minutes travel time.

There are so many great restaurants to choose from at Disney Springs! My family has a tradition of enjoying our first vacation night dinner at Disney Springs each trip. We always select a restaurant that doesn't require reservations just in case we have any flight delays that would prevent us from a timely arrival. The Polite Pig is a great choice, for example. No matter what you choose, I hope you have a delicious and celebratory first night dinner!
