Hi Patrice!
This is a tough one to answer! I am a Disney Vacation Club member and often stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and occasionally at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. There are things I love about both.
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is home to one of my favorite restaurants,
Whispering Canyon Cafe. It's delicious food and a lively atmosphere. The location is awesome just being a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom Park. The theme this resort is rustically beautiful and inviting. Since it's a waterfront hotel, you can rent watercraft from the dock or rent a bike to check out the resort or bike the wooded path between Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is my favorite of these two. We have spend many Resort days just hanging at the hotel and participating in all of the activities. There are kids bead activities around Jambo House and Kidani Village where the kids participate in cultural activities and earn beads for a necklace. My kids especially enjoyed preparing food for the giraffes. There is also face painting, culinary tours, drum circles, African storytelling, night vision animal viewing, cookie decorating and medallion crayon rubbing. The Resort property is gorgeous and it's so nice to walk out on the savannah to view the animals or view them from your room if you have a savannah view. It may be further away from the parks, but the complimentary bus transportation will take you anywhere you'd like to go.
You can't go wrong with either of these options and I know you'll have the best time ever during your next Walt Disney World vacation!
Have a magical day!
Leslie
