Bright Suns Dan,
Ashley, here, I'm a Human-droid relations specialist at planDisney. Welcome back; I'm so happy to answer your question about
Savi's Workshop-Handbuilt Lightsabers. Many Jedi and Padawans must be planning trips for May because your question happens to be one of the most popular ones in our queue at this time. Savi's clandestine operation is one of the most popular and immersive on the planet Batuu, so it is no surprise so many people want to experience it.
I spoke to a friend in the Rebel Alliance, and there was an issue across My Disney Experience involving May trips. A droid was promptly dispatched, and an update was deployed yesterday to remedy the situation. With that being said, they did confirm that a lot of the available spaces at Savi's Workshop for the days you mentioned have already been scooped up. The Gatherers at Savi's are mandated to keep their operation small to avoid detection from Kylo Ren and the First Order.
However, I did want to look further into your question because I know how difficult getting reservations can be. Here are some tips that I learned that might come in handy.
1. Reservations open up at
5:45 am EST for dining and
Enchanting Extras (such as Savi's). Cast Members tend to recommend being ready to book reservations at that time rather than midnight since that is when the reservations officially open.
2. If you are staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel, you can start booking for Savi's and dining 60 days from your trip, plus the length of your stay. If you are only looking at the 60-day mark, there is a chance most reservations have been secured before you even log on.
3. You can call a Cast Member at 407-939- 5277 to ask about the availability of Savi's Workshop reservations, but due to high call volume, you could be waiting on hold for much longer than you want. You can either try to make your call early in the morning or later in the evening to lessen your wait. Another option is to use the chat function on the Walt Disney World Resort website. I've done this before, and while there is a wait associated with it, it is typically quicker in my experience.
4. Check back later. As other Guests change their schedule, there is always a potential (though not guaranteed) that a spot will open up closer to your trip. I just landed a reservation I've been struggling to secure four days before my trip that I couldn't at 60 days prior.
Again, I'm sorry you have been experiencing difficulties, Dan. I hope that I've helped a little bit or at least kept you from the path of the Dark Side.
May the Force Be With You,
Ashley F.
