I'm trying to book a dinner reservation for our faculty, as a party of 12. We would like to dine at the Blue Bayou. Will that restaurant accommodate a party of 12 and how do I secure it?

Hi there, Sarah Kathryn, and welcome to planDisney! Can you believe your visit to The Happiest Place on Earth is coming up in less than two months?!

What a wonderful idea to gather your faculty for a memorable evening at the Disneyland Resort—and you’ve chosen an absolute gem. Blue Bayou Restaurant is truly a special dining experience. There’s something unforgettable about enjoying Louisiana-style cuisine beneath the twilight glow, with lanterns reflecting on the water and the gentle sounds of Pirates of the Caribbean in the background. It’s one of those meals that feels like an attraction all on its own.

Dining reservations at the Disneyland Resort typically open 60 days in advance, and as of the time I’m writing this, dates through the end of February are available to book. Because Blue Bayou Restaurant is one of the most popular dining locations in Disneyland Park (and for very good reason!), reservations can fill quickly. When I checked just now, I wasn’t seeing availability—but things can change in a Louisiana minute, so I’d encourage you to keep checking back often.

For a party of 12, while the online booking system may be able to accommodate a single large group, I’ve seen more success with splitting the party into two smaller reservations, such as two groups of six. If you do decide to book two smaller reservations, you can always let a Cast Member at the restaurant know when you check in that you’re hoping to be seated together. While it isn’t guaranteed since it depends on table availability and configuration, a little flexibility can go a long way. And if there happens to be a bit of a wait before your table is ready, it’s a lovely excuse to enjoy the nearby Rivers of America. A leisurely stroll along the water is a relaxing way to soak in the atmosphere… and you might even spot the Mark Twain Riverboat or a duck or two drifting by as you wait.

If Blue Bayou Restaurant doesn’t quite work out this time (though I’m crossing my fingers that it does!), there are some wonderful alternatives across the resort. In Disneyland Park, Carnation Café is a classic choice, serving comforting favorites in the heart of Main Street, U.S.A. Over in Disney California Adventure Park, Wine Country Trattoria is another great option, offering Italian-inspired dishes in a relaxed setting that can work well for groups. No matter where you find yourselves around the table, the setting becomes part of the story.

Sarah Kathryn, bringing a group together for a shared meal is a wonderful way to mark the occasion. With thoughtful planning and a little flexibility, the experience has all the ingredients for something truly memorable—shaped by good food, great company, and the unmistakable atmosphere of the Disneyland Resort.

Wishing you a deliciously magical visit!
