Hi!! I’m traveling with my husband, and will be my kids’ and their grandparents’ first Disney Cruise! I wonder if they feature something like “Ears to the World” for on board entertainment? My Dad and In-Laws speak very little English. Thanks!

    Ahoy Pame!

First of all, welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am over the moon excited to hear that this will be a first time Disney cruise for members of your family! How thoughtful you are for wanting to make sure they get to enjoy all that's included on a Disney sailing.

While Disney Cruise Line does not feature Ears to the World like at Walt Disney World, I have several suggestions that may help maximize your family’s ability to enjoy the onboard shows:

Before your cruise, your Dad and in-laws could get familiar with some of the shows in their native language so they will know and understand the storyline. Since there are multiple ships setting sail on your date, let me give you information on both of them. If you are sailing on the Disney Wonder, then they should watch Frozen to prepare for the musical version, Frozen, A Musical Spectacular. Meanwhile, if the Disney Dream is your ship, then watch Beauty and the Beast before your cruise to get ready for the onstage version that awaits you on your cruise. Currently, there’s even a portion of Beauty and the Beast performed on the Disney Dream available online with some closed captioning in Spanish.

I'm constantly amazed at the advances in technology. Did you know that translation earbuds are readily available? Although that may not be an expense that they want to incur, it may be an excellent solution for your family members. These earbuds will translate all the onboard activities so your relatives don't miss out on a single thing!

That said, I have also found that the onboard entertainment is so immersive and visually stunning, it transcends language because the feelings come through in the music and the acting and the wow factor from the costumes, sets, and special effects. So even if they do not speak English, your relatives will still be moved by all the action and emotions flowing onstage!

Pame, I see you’ll be visiting from Mexico. ¡Qué padre! If your friends and family could benefit from planning advice in Spanish, send them over to our Disney Parks Moms Panel in Spanish. Wishing you a most magical voyage filled with memorable moments!

    Happy Sailing!
