Hi I'm traveling with four kids 15,15.11and 1 And we have time to visit the other hotels and look around. Any suggestions on the best sights?

    Trina:

One of my favorite past times while vacationing at Disney is to visit other resorts!  My kids aren't always "on board" for simply walking through lobbies, so I try to make my sight-seeing align with another activity at the resort like a meal.

Here are my TOP 3 Picks for resort-hopping:

    1. Fort Wilderness. Any regular to the Moms Panel site knows that our family owns an RV, and I feel like I am an "ambassador of the fort!"  The fort offers fishing, canoeing, pony rides, carriage rides and houses the stables for the Main Street brigade.  Its also home to Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-a-long, one of the best values at Disney, as its hard to beat the price of FREE!

    2. Polynesian. Well-themed from its foliage to its longhouse architecture, the resort whisks you away to the Pacific. A nightly torch-lighting ceremony in the lobby, complete with a firewalker, delights guests. You can also find cast members leading guests in lei-making and even hula lessons in the lobby.  Activity times tend to vary, but the torch-lighting was at 6 p.m. when I was there. Cap off a night with a cup of pineapple soft-serve ice cream from Captain Cooks and view the Magic Kingdom's fireworks from its beach.

    3. Wilderness Lodge. From the moment you enter the stories-tall lobby with its gigantic fireplace, you begin to relax.  Whether you amble over to a rocking chair or watch the geyser blow at the pool, the resort reminds you of the great park lodges. The resort is best known for its Hidden Mickeys, so get the kids in on a little adventure!

Runners-Up: Riding the monorail through the Contemporary Resort. Listening to the extraordinary piano players in the Grand Floridian lobby. Watching a movie "on the beach" at Beach Club. Taking the ferry from Downtown Disney down the Sassagoula River to Port Orleans.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
