I’m traveling alone from downtown LA to Disneyland for the day and back. What would be the safest way to travel? A bus, Uber/lyft, are there any other options?

Welcome to planDisney, Allison. We're so glad you came to visit us with this question. It won't be long until you will be walking down Main Street, U.S.A. toward Sleeping Beauty Castle ready for a day filled with magic. Let's get to your question to ensure you're ready for your visit.

As someone who often travels (Han) solo to the Disneyland Resort, I was delighted to see your question. There are several ways to get to the parks from downtown Los Angeles. I find that I most frequently use a rideshare service for convenience and comfort. There are also measures that I take to feel safe during my journey. For example, as a woman, I've selected the setting in the Lyft app to be matched with women and nonbinary drivers more often. I also always send a link to my ride to my husband or a family member or friend so they know exactly where I am when traveling alone. Depending on the time of day, the ride can take anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour (depending on traffic).

You can also consider taking the train from Union Station in Los Angeles to the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC). Something to keep in mind with this option is that you will need to transfer from the train to either a bus or rideshare to take you from the station to Disneyland.

I'm so excited for you and your visit. One of the things I love the most about solo trips is being able to take the day at whatever speed I feel comfortable. Another great benefit is using the Single Rider service in both parks. A couple of my go-to attractions that offer this service are Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure Park and Space Mountain in Disneyland Park. If you haven't already, be sure to download the Disneyland app for your visit. You can easily filter for and find these attractions by heading to the map and selecting "Attractions" from the drop-down menu at the top. Next, tap on "Filters" and under "Interests" tap "More options" to find the "Single Rider Offered" option.

Allison, I hope this helps and gives you some options to consider when planning how to get to the parks. Please come back to visit us with any other questions that you might have as you continue to plan. Here's wishing you a most magical time at the Happiest Place on Earth!
