Hey there, Kiara!
Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney! We're so glad you're here. My pals and I know how important it is to get every detail perfect for your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth. I love that you're getting a head start on your planning. Olaf would say that some people are worth melting for, and planning ahead is a warm hug for your vacation! It's the little things that make your trip practically perfect in every way.
What a wonderful question. Thank you for asking! I've been lucky enough to visit during both timeframes you're considering, and I'd love to share what makes each one special. December is truly one of my favorite times at Walt Disney World Resort. There's nothing quite like the magic of Christmas on Main Street, U.S.A., with sparkling lights and festive tunes filling the air. Special activities, like
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at
Magic Kingdom Park, create core memories that will melt your heart! This is also the perfect time to see your favorite characters dressed in their holiday best and to catch exclusive fireworks and parades that sparkle with extra holiday magic.
The second half of January also has its perks. The weather is still absolutely fantastic. Sweater weather! However, keep in mind that most, if not all, of the Christmas decorations will have been taken down by then, so the holiday atmosphere won't be as strong. My family and I still had a wonderful time, though we did miss that extra bit of Christmas cheer. If soaking up the festive spirit is important to you, I'd recommend visiting in December as you're considering it. We love going that week because it coincides with our kids' school break, and with a little planning, like
rope dropping in the mornings and combining that with
Early Theme Park Entry, and using
Lightning Lanes, you'll fit in all your must-do attractions. Even with more Guests on weekends, we managed to enjoy everything we wanted, and we're already excited about our next December adventure!
Since you're getting a head start on planning, I recommend keeping a close eye on
special offers and the announcement dates for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party tickets. This event is in high demand and can sell out quickly. It's also helpful to make a list of your group’s most important attractions and priorities, so you have a clear idea of what's important in your party.
Kiara, I hope this information has helped, and, more importantly, that you have an unforgettable time at Walt Disney World Resort. Just like Olaf, may you find your newest tradition, whether it's warm hugs, building a ‘bubble’ snowman, holiday lights, or your favorite attractions. Please come back and see me anytime!
Your personal planning companion,
Michelle
