I'm thinking about taking the 8 day cruise to the Bahamas on the Magic from NY I was supposed to go with my son to disney last year but he was scared to get on the plane. He's flown before too. He cruised b4 too. I'm worried about days at sea. Advice?

    Hi Linda,

As a fellow New Jersey resident, I, too, am looking forward to sailing on the Disney Magic out of the port of New York!  This is the perfect solution for guests who want to visit Walt Disney World but are afraid to fly.

If you are concerned that your son might fear getting on the cruise ship, I suggest you take him on some shorter boat rides before you book your cruise.  The more he sails, the more comfortable he'll be.  He will likely realize how much fun being aboard ship can be.  It will be incredibly important for you to model confident cruising behavior for him.  Kids are amazingly perceptive.  If they see that we are confident and comfortable in a situation, more than likely they will follow our lead.  You could also ask your son's pediatrician for useful strategies to address any anxiety that might arise.

Meanwhile, pick up a Disney Cruise Line brochure at your local AAA office or travel agent so that you can show him how many incredible kids' activities there are on board the Magic.  He'll be having so much fun that the days will pass much too quickly during the cruise.  He won't have time to worry or be bored.

Wishing you and your son an amazing voyage with Disney Cruise Line!  Don't hesitate to contact us if you have additional questions.
