Hiya, Mallory! Welcome to
planDisney, and thank you so much for stopping by with such a wonderful question! I love that you’re already thinking ahead about Christmas decorations at
Walt Disney World. It’s one of the most beautiful times of year to visit, and it’s always fun to plan around that extra holiday magic.
Now, here’s the thing. As of right now, there are no exact published dates for when the holiday decorations come down next year. Disney usually likes to keep that information flexible, and it often depends on operational needs and special events. That said, from my personal experience and from watching the schedule year after year, I can share a pretty reliable pattern.
You can almost always count on the decorations being up for the first week of January, so if you’re aiming for those dates in 2026, you’ll likely still get to enjoy the wreaths, garlands, and Christmas trees throughout the parks and resorts. However, the big change tends to happen right before
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which is usually held the second weekend of January. Once the runners arrive, the transition back to “everyday magic” is well underway, and the majority of the decorations are typically removed by then.
In fact, I’ve rarely seen decorations make it past January 10. Sometimes you’ll still find a few lingering touches, like poinsettias in planters or smaller garlands around resorts, but the grand displays in places like Magic Kingdom and EPCOT usually don’t stick around beyond that point.
Since things are always subject to change, my best advice is to keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog as your trip gets closer. That’s where you’ll find the most accurate and up-to-date news about seasonal offerings, including when the transition from Christmas to everyday theming will happen.
Mallory, I hope this helps you feel a bit more confident about your planning. No matter which week you choose, I’m certain your visit will be filled with magic, but if your heart is set on the holiday décor, I’d definitely stick closer to those first days of January.
Warm hugs,
Ana Paula
