Im thinking of renting the Grand One Yacht to see the fireworks while my family is down there. Would you recommend doing that or doing an Illuminations Cruise?

The Grand One yacht is truly the most luxurious way to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks!  It is the most costly with the fees being about $550 an hour but it is a beautiful and comfortable boat.  It can hold 18 guests and you can order food and drinks from private dining if you wish to enhance the trip in this way.  When we have reserved the yacht we have done it for 2 hours and enjoyed the cruising of the lakes before anchoring for the fireworks.  You can also see the water parade before heading back to the Grand Floridian marina.

The Illuminations show is probably my favorite of all fireworks shows at Disney.  You can reserve a pontoon boat that holds 10 for this cruise and that price is about $325 for the hour.  You cruise down to Hollywood Studios and around the Boardwalk area before mooring under the bridge in the World Showcase to watch the show.  The only negative for this is the winds are often blowing in your direction and you can get the residue and smoke in your face.   The cruise gives you an awesome unobstructed view and you are close enough to feel the heat from the fires in the center of the lake!  You can also order food and drink from private dining for this cruise.

Both are great experiences and I would choose according to your budget and also which fireworks show is your families favorite.  Perhaps book one for this trip and then book the other for your next Disney vacation so you can enjoy both in the near future!
