I’m thinking of purchasing a one day ticket to magic kingdom. I am wondering if there is a way to assess wait times for rides when we are there and or if there is a way you can limit amount of wait time for particular rides as I will have a 4 month in tow.

Hello from the Litchfield Hills and welcome to planDisney, Melissa!

I'm so happy to hear you are considering vacationing at Walt Disney World with your little one.  People used to think I was crazy for bringing my children to Disney at a young age because they wouldn't remember it but they didn't realize the memories were for me, too!  Oftentimes my dear mother would join us to help out with her grandchildren and now that she is gone, I certainly cherish those special memories.

Melissa, if you download the My Disney Experience App, you will see it is the hub for everything you will need for your Walt Disney World vacation.  You can even check current wait times from the comfort of your home at any time!  Just open the app, press "Tip Board," and if necessary press "Change Park" and select Magic Kingdom Park.  You can then scroll through the attractions to see current wait times.  Please note, wait times will only display during normal park hours.

You may also notice there are Lighting Lane (LL) Disney Genie+ times available to book.  If you have room in your budget, I would highly recommend purchasing this service if your goal is to minimize wait times for some of the attractions.  If you decide to purchase Disney Genie+, I would suggest doing so just before 7:00 a.m. so that you can make your first Lightning Lane selection at 7:00 a.m.  You are allowed to select one Disney Genie+ service Lightning Lane at a time.  Once you redeem an existing Disney Genie+ service Lightning Lane selection, or wait 2 hours (whichever comes first) you can make another selection. Please note that the 2-hour wait to make another selection begins when the park opens, even if you made your first booking at 7:00 AM.

The Disney Genie+ service can seem tricky at first but once you use it a couple of times it gets easier.  Please review the link above for much more information on the service along with some how-to videos.  You can also check YouTube to get lots of tips on how people have successfully used Genie+.  If you search "Molly Genie Plus" on YouTube, you will find my favorite person to follow on this topic.

Please let us know if you have additional questions as you continue to plan your magical day at Magic Kingdom Park!
